Street Furniture “Streetline”, 2002

Josef P. Kleihues developed a diversified array of street furniture for and together with Wall AG between 1997 and 2004. The vast majority of individual street furniture obeys the rule of type and model, making it possible to produce families or series of street furniture. The elements of the series are developed according to the geometry of the spherical triangle and its variations, they are characterized by a coherent appearance, and they fulfill various functions in the public street space. The city furniture series was first developed in 1997 for a tender in New York. After winning a competition in Boston in 1998, the city furniture series has since been realized as “Streetline Boston.”
