Function Tile “2 in 1”, 2004

Due to their diverse design options, ceramic molded parts have always been traditional functional objects for bathroom and kitchen equipment. This new tile series is intended to restore the relation of built elements with ceramic wall and floor coverings. Ceramics thus form the basic module of the series in material and formal terms while connecting back to a holistic spatial unity, tying the objects back to tradition and reinterpreting them for the present. The basic shape of the tile is used as a versatile basis for the series and enters into dialogue with complementary building materials. This enables economical and cost-effective production and preserves the design coherence of the elements.
