Raum der Stille
In a time in which, on the one hand, a firm religious and ethical anchoring for the residents of a community is increasingly in the process of being dissolved and in which, on the other hand, our relationship and our understanding of the landscape and nature is being questioned, It seems obvious to look for our relationship to the natural phenomena of our existence in close proximity to nature.
The proposed positioning of a space-forming, accessible sculpture in a clearing with a view of the lake offers the ideal conditions for this. The sculptural body is designed as an enclosing spatial sequence that protects a space with massive brick walls from which the viewer can look out into the landscape across the lake alone and with themselves.
Similar to the experience in a Zen Buddhist tea hut or in a hermit cell, the phenomena of nature can be experienced more deeply through the abstract, delimiting framework of an enclosed space. The light reflections of the sun on the brick, horizontally structured wall, the changing cloudy sky, the sounds of the leaves in the wind, the path leads to a place of silence and transcendence.
